Day 09 : Someone you didn’t want to let go, but just drifted.
I had a very good friend in high school named Belinda. We were both in band (she played baritone, I played trombone) and hung out together frequently. She was a year older than me. I had a crush on her for awhile, but she was “boy crazy.” She introduced me to my boyfriend of my junior & senior years — the one who gave me a promise ring, but I broke all my promises as if I’d never made them. *sigh*
She went to Texas A&M and lived in an apartment her first year — it was very hard to get into the dorms at that time. The following year, she was accepted for one of the really nice dorms; I went to A&M on a scholarship which also guaranteed a dorm room, but it was an old dorm and on the other side of campus from Belinda’s dorm.
I had to go to College Station early for orientation, and we spent the extra time plus the first few weeks doing activities together. But then she became caught up in classwork, and I was tangled in my excessive “love life”; it was hard for us to find time to get together. By the time the semester ended we had completely drifted apart, and it’s been that way ever since.
I wish I had made more effort to maintain my friendship with her, because I believe it was a true friendship in spite of the eventual drifting.
Hi there! How are ya? It seems your posts are getting fewer and fewer. I miss you when you stay away hug!
Le sigh…. yes, it is sad when friendships drift away. But life is so complicated and it’s difficult to keep up with everything
Yes, and I do good to keep up with myself.
Awesome! That’s the most important thing
