Day 12 : Something you never get compliments on
‘Never’ is a strong word, so I won’t try to find something that I NEVER get complimented on. Actually, I think I have something. I have never been complimented on my ability to do anything physical such as dancing or playing a sport.
I never tried playing sports and I’m glad I didn’t. I had to take P.E. through 9th grade, of course, and I was terrible at everything, except possibly dodge ball.
If playing the trombone counts as a physical activity, then I did okay on that one. However, marching AND playing was almost too much for me.
P.E. was also required in college — 4 semesters of it — and I kept putting it off so long that my last semester I had to take TWO of those dreaded classes. In one of them we played a stupid game called “pickleball” and we were actually graded on our ability (or lack thereof) at playing pickleball.
I made a ‘D.’ My best friend could not believe it; she had never heard of anyone making a ‘D’ in P.E.! I could hardly believe it myself, but at least it didn’t count against me on my grade point average.
Here’s some info on pickleball from the U.S.A. Pickleball Association:
Pickleball is a fun game that is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. [I'd like to protest the part about it being easy for beginners to learn!]
